FW/G0VJG – 3D2AS…Bags packed..!

FW 2

It won’t be long now until Nobby Styles G0VJG is qrv as 3D2AS from Fiji and FW/G0VJG from both Wallis and Futuna Islands. The trip starts on the 3rd May 2019 in Fiji, around 7th/8th May in FW.

He says that ”wifi is available from Fiji but not sure about in FW. It may not be easy sending log updates from that part of my trip but of course I will send them as soon and as frequent as is possible.”

He will be using a FT857, Folding Hexbeam, a Vertical antenna and operating on 6/10/12/15/17/20/30/40 & 60m (tbc) with a small Amplifier on SSB.

”Most of my gear is packed but we are likely to be very restricted on weight especially on the Flight from Fiji to Wallis & Futuna. Bare minimal will be the answer but again, until we get there some details of this trip are difficult to prepare or predict”.

”I have also decided to set a tentative plan regarding operating frequencies. I will try to stick to my list as much as possible but for 17m I will try to use 18122.00. It also seems likely that I can’t use 60m in FW and for Digital Chasers I will probably not run RTTY and will stick with FT8. This may change.”

Please be aware dates may change according to local conditions and also, please keep up with news on DX bulletin websites and also via QSL Manager M0OXO for any last minute news.

Charles M0OXO

I was born in the 1960’s and have lived all my life in the Coal Mining Town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, Northern England. My parents were all from this area of Yorkshire and my father worked in the main Industry of the local Collieries as a face worker. I have been married to my wife Debbie for 35+ years and we have two children and two grandchildren.

I have been licensed for around 20 years after my interest was re-kindled when I retired from my role as a Police Officer within South Yorkshire Police Force. The latter few years were spent as Radio Operator in the Force Operations Control Room at Sheffield, before my career ended.

IOTA chasing is (and always has been) my real passion, as climbing the ladder to reach Honour Roll status was always my main aim. The 1000 Islands Trophy is still out of reach but I am heading in the right direction. I am currently a Board Member of IOTA Ltd and IREF.

In my free time I am a keen Photographer of Wildlife, Aviation, (anything really) but the QSL Manager role is my main passion within Ham Radio.
