MM0UKI – Flannan Islands

”Today we had confirmation that our next attempt to activate the Flannan Islands WILL go ahead this weekend. The initial plan will be for us to depart Isle of Lewis on the afternoon of Sunday 27th April for Flannan. We will be staying for 2-3 days (weather dependent) before our return.
 
Our Team (M0SDV Jamie, G0VJG Nobby & Paul G4PVM will be QRV 40m – 10m, SSB/CW/FT8. QSL Via M0OXO.
 
This is a particularly challenging location due to the landing site and the erosion of the steps we require to get ashore, but we have a skipper experienced with the Flannan’s and we are leaning on his experience to get us there safely.

JW0B Svalbard

10th April 2025

Mini-DXpedition from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, from September 24th to 28th 2025. Focus on high bands in CW and RTTY with some 6m if conditions allow. Some SSB depending on previous activities and a casual participation in the CQ WW RTTY.

Free LOTW will be uploaded during the DXpedition and the Club Log livestream will be enabled. Double-folded QSL and log corrections are via M0OXO OQRS.

 

Mailing Statistics 2024-2025

As the 2024 – 2025 financial tax year comes to an end, it is time to take a look at how our mailing facility has worked over the last year.
Overall 25,517 items of mail were posted at a cost of £25,972.95. We post QSL Direct cards, bureau parcels and magazines using the various products as shown in the table below. With 3,419 less items posted this year, with Solar Cycle 25 this last 12 months providing much increased propagation on HF.
DX’pedition QSL costs are very competitive as always and we welcome talking to DX teams about mailing your QSL cards in the future.
 
The past 12 months though have been challenging as we continue to battle through the minefield of Worldwide Customs, and find our way through letter mailing solutions that are becoming less reliable around the world and more expensive, prices never go down!
 
While most people use OQRS (Thank you) we still get a number of incoming direct letters. The problem being is that most of the incoming letters do not include the correct QSL costs, because most fail to read either my QSL policy or the DXpedition QSL policy.
 
This increases our costs further and also costs us time as we have to email to let people know that they failed to QSL correctly. My advice is use OQRS ONLY!

PJ6Y Saba

Announcing the 2025 PJ6Y DXpedition to Saba                                                                             Co-leaders Gregg W6IZT, Dean W2FQ, and Jeff NM1Y, in collaboration with Youth on the Air (YOTA), are thrilled to announce our upcoming DXpedition to Saba!

We will arrive on Saba on October 17, 2025, and be on the air through October 29, 2025. Our primary operating site is situated on the north side of the island at an elevation of approximately1,200 feet. The team will consist of 14 on-island operators, including eight young operators under the age of 25. Notably, four of these young ops participated as remote operators in the recent 3D2Y DXpedition to Rotuma. The local team will be complimented by 25-30 remote operators.

We will have 3 stations available for local operators. We extend a special thanks to the Northern California DX Foundation for their generous grant, to construct two NexGenRiBs2 stations based on Elecraft K4Ds for remote operation.
Activity will be on 80–6 meters + satellite and we will also participate in the CQWW SSB contest.

3Y0K Bouvet Island Dxpedition 2026

In February 2026 or in less than a year an international team of 24 amateur radio operators will land on Bouvet Island. Bouvet is a Norwegian overseas territory and lies in the South Atlantic Ocean, with 93% of its surface covered by ice and snow. It sets the record as the Most Remote Uninhabited Island on Earth, and ranks #10 on the Most Wanted DXCC listing at ClubLog.

Operating as 3Y0K, our team will attempt to give as many ATNOs as possible and be active in all amateur radio bands from 10 to 160m. We will direct our attention to human modes but will be active in CW, SSB, FT8, RTTY and QO-100 satellite using up to 12 stations. Read More

OQRS Bureau (Qsl via…)

When completing a Bureau request on OQRS, you will see the ‘Qsl via’ field. This is where you enter the Callsign of YOUR QSL Manager or YOUR QSL route.
 
You should NOT enter ”M0OXO’ in this field. If you enter ‘M0OXO’, then the card will come back to me and that’s not very helpful to either of us 😉

6Y7EI – Jamaica – Useful links

The plans are for 8 Stations to be on air as much as possible as well as a big effort on 6m thanks to their new Acom 1200S amplifier. This will run alongside their trusted Acom 1010’s for HF.
