What is ‘Express LOTW’?

What is the Express LoTW option that is available in OQRS?….Let me try to explain the options available around Express LOTW.

Express LoTW is used by DXpeditions and Log Management by the QSL manager. Express LOTW is not a money making addition to our services, but a feature requested by Dx’ers who do not want a physical Qsl Card but want a DXCC Credit in a timely manner. They don’t want to wait Months or even Years for a DXCC Credit when the Dxpedition Teams impose delays, they want if fast and this is why it was introduced as another option.

If you do not want Express LOTW, then wait until the log is uploaded in full.

Express LOTW” – This is an electronic Credit and there is NO QSL Card if you choose this option.

“Express LOTW + Bureau QSL” = A Fast Electronic QSO confirmation via LOTW AND a Paper Qsl Card sent to the Bureau

“Direct QSL + Express LOTW” = A Paper QSL Card sent to your mailbox AND a Fast Electronic QSO confirmation via LOTW.
We also use the standard LOTW feature to upload None DXpedition call signs to LOTW as soon as they are uploaded to OQRS.

Express LoTW is also the tool that we use for “Donor Management from Excel”. This is the pre DXpedition donations file, which automatically uploads Pre Dxpedition Donor’s QSO’s to LoTW each day of the DXpedition.

It is important that we are clear when the LoTW is uploaded. So the above direction can leave you in no doubt. All none DXpedition call signs are uploaded to LoTW as soon as their log is received.

I hope that clarifies the situation around what seems to be the ‘misunderstood’ option available at the OQRS check-out.

Charles M0OXO

I was born in the 1960’s and have lived all my life in the Coal Mining Town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, Northern England. My parents were all from this area of Yorkshire and my father worked in the main Industry of the local Collieries as a face worker. I have been married to my wife Debbie for 38 years and we have two children and two grandchildren.

I have been licensed for around 20 years after my interest was re-kindled when I retired from my role as a Police Officer within South Yorkshire Police Force. The latter few years were spent as Radio Operator in the Force Operations Control Room at Sheffield, before my career ended.

IOTA chasing is (and always has been) my real passion, as climbing the ladder to reach Honour Roll status was always my main aim. The 1000 Islands Trophy is still out of reach but I am heading in the right direction. I am currently a Board Member of IOTA Ltd.

In my free time I am a keen Photographer of Wildlife but the QSL Manager role is my main passion within Ham Radio.
